How to dress up your loungewear

(Photo from Pinterest) Today I want to start with a question. This time last year, would you have ever thought that the topic of loungewear would become popular so as to appear in the most well-known fashion magazines? This strange year we are practically spending more time at home than outside, thanks to social distancing and smart working.

Many of us have had to give up on holidays and even changed shopping habits. As for me, for example, I have not yet bought lipsticks or foundation this year. On the other hand, I bought more than a pair of comfortable and soft pants. That before COVID I had never thought of wearing, imagine if I really were to invest in loungewear! But now that I’m used to it, I can really show you that you can be chic and elegant even in slippers, trendy though. You’ve just to change perspective, not to feel like Cinderella confined at home, but like a woman over 40 or over 50 who radiates optimism in the family and manage to discover beauty even in the hard times.

Luxury loungewear

I’d like to start with luxury clothing, the sets in pure silk or cashmere, consisting of a tank top, trousers and cardigan, the ones you see in the advertisements with families having breakfast all together, in a beautiful sunny kitchen, all barefoot on the wood floor, on a Sunday morning. Luxury loungewear is worn like this, without adding anything else, the preciousness of the fabrics does not require accessories to raise up your look a notch higher. My tip is to go for neutral colors, avoid those prints that can be mistaken for pajamas.

Chic looks with tracksuits

The tracksuit is definitely a more popular garment, sweatshirt and pants can be worn as separates, accompanied by garments that elevate the look.

Among the outfits that I prefer most, that of the sweatshirt combined with jeans or leggings, or the wide trousers of the tracksuit together with the elegant blouse or the fitted top, completed by the elegant jacket for work meetings via Google Meet or Zoom. And colored embellished sneakers, but also high heels, if after 6 pm, you want to go out for a happy hour with friends, wearing a a gorgeous face mask, preferably combined with a jacket.

Chic looks with leggings

Leggings are also part of loungewear. Worn with a long shirt in cotton or silk that you can replace with a warm minidress in colder months, they really are a perfect alternative. Accessories, as always, play an important role in the look. Long necklaces and bracelets can add some color and refinement, precious sneakers or heels are the icing on the cake. Ballerina slippers also add personality to the look, tying comfort with elegance.

Cardigans and kimonos

Many are the cardigans in my closet. It is my favorite garment for winter months, it replaces the jacket when the temperatures drop. Fit and softness are its main features, you can wear it open or with a soft belt at the waist. The kimono is your alternative for the hottest days, to be chosen in the colors and patterns best suited to your complexion.

Are you ready to look at loungewear with a different eye? Well, I’m already doing it! And of course, remember to wear a veil of makeup too, simple and natural. May it never be that someone, entering our house, surprises us by saying that we are still in our pajamas! Have a nice weekend, see you soon!
