A splash of red to call the Spring

borsa e stivaletti rossi

When the days get longer and the fog leaves our cities, the air gets warmer and generates that sense of expectation for the Spring that is almost at the door. The colours become protagonists, with the first daring flowers that come out from the snow. Which means that you too, my dear readers, will be inexorably abducted by this need of change, driven to clothes with lighter and warmer shades, splashes of colours that enliven the classic tones of winter.

The need of change has already struck me with a splash of red colour. Don’t jump to the wrong conclusion! I did not want to wear red from tip to toe like the beautiful protagonist of The woman in red or the shapely Jessica Rabbit from the cartoons! But the idea of creating an outfit starting from the red colour didn’t abandon me. On the contrary, it became even stronger, for many reasons. The first was that the red is one of this winter’s fashion colours, which means that, I could take advantage of the sales to find a real bargain. The second gave help to the first, because I had just discovered that this colour, in the shade of red tomato, is one of the trends of next Spring. So, my passion for red matched with blue and white colours really seemed to take shape and become real, into two of the most loved items of women, shoes and bags.

I wanted a pair of ankle boots with kitten heels and a bag. Both red, of course.

Strange but true. Last Saturday, in Milan, I found what I was looking for. I left together with my friends, Rita and Loretta, for a carefree trip that I had postponed a lot of time. What a beautiful sunny day! Enriched by the memories of youth, weird selfies (have you ever tried to take a picture with a big church in the background and three people in the front, who smile and try to show their best side?).  And how many laughs for the items on sale in some stores! Have you ever entered Victoria’s secret? But what kind of fantasy do her designers have! And to stay tuned for relaxation and good feeling  we also purchased useless but fun items for our children. But I must confess, I too ate the Flying Tiger’s bubbly candies!

That afternoon, just before leaving Milan, in a small shoe store, I saw something red that was shining at me. My friends and I went inside. It was a pair of red ankle boots … with medium kitten heels and of my size! And at a very affordable price, reduced by 50%! And they were of the same shade of red of the bag that was waiting for me in the shop window just opposite, whose price was reduced too by 60%! Well … you already know how it ended.

And if the passion for this colour is going to catch you too, remember to drive it towards the choice of accessories, to give a touch of glam and personality to your classic garments and especially to the simplest ones.

My favourite rer outfit consists in red accessories like shoes, a bag and a belt, together with a pair of blue jeans, a white t-shirt and a dark blue blazer.

But if you prefer a more elegant outfit, replace the blue jeans with wide leg classic trousers in fluid fabric, add a silk blouse and a coloured scarf, of course in silk too!
